Explanation of Seminar
By Dr. James Albani

From time to time we hear doctors speak and the words seem foreign, such as Ridge Augmentation, or Bone Grafting and finding ourselves wondering what exactly that means. Here in this blog I will explain in Layman's term's exactly what this procedure is and why specialists keep up to date technologies at hand and continually strive for superior techniques and technologies in ridge augmentation and bone grafting. Sometimes when a tooth is lost, indentation of the gum and jaw bone may occur. This happens because the jawbone recedes and there is no tooth in the original location, causing an indentation. Not only is this indentation unnatural looking, it also causes the replacement tooth to look too long compared to the adjacent teeth. In these cases a bone graft is performed to increase the ridge height and/or width for making dental implant placement possible.
